PLK3 (Aurora/Centrosome) Pathway Inhibitor



The Aurora/Centrosome pathway contains several key regulators of cell division which are over-expressed in many human cancers, including colon and breast, and leukemia. Inhibition of the Aurora/Centrosome pathway is known to slow the uncontrolled cell growth that characterizes cancer. Application of AvalonRx® has enabled us to identify structurally distinct compounds that appear to affect the Aurora/Centrosome pathway by interacting through a novel target. We are currently pursuing lead optimization for one of the active compound families and plan to nominate a lead candidate in 2008.
